This is the story of two friends who brought not only their suitcases from Germany to Athens—but also their passion for the Greek language and culture. Both of Greek descent, they enrolled in our intensive B2-level Greek course through the Bildungsurlaub program, eager to build on their already strong language skills and further reconnect with their heritage.
Although they spoke Greek fluently from the start, they were determined to master the nuances of the language—grammar, idioms, formal structures—and gain a deeper understanding of modern Greek life. Their dedication and vibrant personalities quickly made them beloved members of our classroom and the wider school community.
What made their presence even more special was the genuine emotional connection they expressed toward the school, the city, and the language. They embraced every aspect of the experience: the dynamic lessons, cultural activities, and lively conversations during coffee breaks. By the end of their stay, they had not only improved their Greek but also created lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.
We were especially touched when they shared their plans to return—next time, bringing their daughters to learn and experience Greece together as a family.
These photos were taken on their final day of class, a graduation moment filled with smiles, heartfelt goodbyes, and shared pride in how far they had come.
It was a joy and an honor to welcome them into our school—and we can’t wait to see them again!
