One of the nicest extracurricular activities of our educational program is visiting one of the museums of Athens. This time our students, accompanied by our teacher Nancy, visited the Plato Academy digital museum.
The Plato Academy Digital Museum opened for the first time in 2015. It is a small building, located just outside the Plato Academy park and next to the local square that houses the bust of Plato.
The philosophy of Plato and Socrates had a unique influence on philosophy in general! The museum hosts a permanent exhibition on Plato’s life and works, divided into three rooms and using a variety of computer applications, video projections, maps and other audiovisual materials.
The aim of the Museum is to connect a world-famous story with the place where it actually took place. After the three rooms, the exhibition ends in the “now” with the exit to today’s neighborhood and the modern way of life. Leaving the museum, we toured the beautiful park – right next to the museum – where Plato’s Academy was located and shared our views on Plato’s theories and works.
