The Rotunda of Thessaloniki is a 4th century round building, similar to the Pantheon of Rome, originally intended for a temple of Zeus. Due to its non-use, however, it was converted to a Christian temple of the Assombled Forces during Byzantine times, and after the liberation of Thessaloniki, in 1912, it was dedicated to St. George. Today, it is included in the Paleochristian and Byzantine monuments of the city as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Last week the students of our school in Thessaloniki visited -together with their teachers- this remarkable monument. After exploring the area and learning everything about the history and uses of the building throughout the centuries, they took photos to remember their interesting visit!
