Proud of our students: Elena Radoi

We are proud to highlight the achievements of our student Elena Radoi, originally from Romania and currently living in Berlin, who is studying Greek at the B1 level at our school.

Elena is participating in “The Gap”, an interdisciplinary artistic project launched in Athens and running until 2026. Inspired by research into human-made gaps, the project focuses on the traces left by bladed weapons on Byzantine frescoes and explores their material, political, and conceptual dimensions.

The project blends theory with artistic practice and follows feminist and anti-Cartesian traditions that view thinking not only as a contemplative activity but also as something performative and active. Elena and her fellow artists are creating a large fresco on the rooftop of a cultural space in Kypseli, and the work will evolve through four phases, culminating in an exhibition in Tokyo.

On May 9, at the Goethe Institute of Athens, Elena will present her approach alongside fellow artists from Greece and Japan, discussing fresco as a cultural technique and drawing connections to similar artistic traditions in East Asia. The project is a powerful reflection on absence, presence, and cultural translation.

We are thrilled to see Elena engaging so deeply with Greek culture through her art and proud to support her on this exciting journey.
