Every year we meet inspiring students learning Greek in Greece, and this summer we were delighted to welcome back Arina and Artin, our 17-year-old twin students from Iran. After studying with us last year, they returned to spend part of their summer in Athens, continuing their Greek language journey while experiencing Greek culture and everyday life.
Why These Students Learning Greek in Greece Inspire Us
Arina and Artin are kind, positive and highly motivated students. From their first lesson, they impressed everyone with their enthusiasm, curiosity and respect for both the Greek language and Greek culture.
They are also incredibly fast learners. Their confidence in speaking, reading and writing Greek has grown significantly, and they actively participated in every classroom activity.
Even more inspiring is their dream of studying in Greece one day.
- Arina hopes to study Architecture.
- Artin is still deciding on his future studies, but he is already a talented piano player with a real passion for music.
We sincerely hope to see both of them become university students in Athens in the future.
Students Learning Greek in Greece Through Real-Life Activities
One of the highlights of their course was a practical writing exercise.
The class was asked to write an invitation letter for a party entirely in Greek. Arina and Artin produced an excellent piece of writing, demonstrating not only their grammar and vocabulary but also their creativity.
The activity quickly turned into a fun conversation. We all laughed while imagining that one day they might actually organise this party as university students in Athens—and invite all of us!
Moments like these show that learning Greek is about much more than grammar. It is about communication, confidence and building friendships.
A Special Farewell Gift
On their final day, our school director surprised them with a meaningful gift.
Each student received a simplified Greek reader to encourage them to continue practising Greek at home.
- Arina received The Odyssey.
- Artin received The Twelve Labours of Heracles (Οι 12 Άθλοι του Ηρακλή).
These books are written in accessible Greek and are perfect for continuing their language journey after returning home.
We Look Forward to Seeing Them Again
Arina and Artin are now back in Iran to complete their final school examinations before beginning the next chapter of their lives.
We wish them every success in their exams and hope their dream of studying in Greece becomes a reality.
Their kindness, enthusiasm and dedication made them a joy to teach. We are incredibly proud of their progress and cannot wait to welcome them back next summer.
