ONASSIS FOUNDATION (www.onassis.org) organize every year an Exhibition dealing with various cultural topics in PEDION TOU AREOS Park (Camp of Mars- Champ de Mars) opposite our school. This year their exhibition was titled PLASMATA and lasted 2 months during which our students had the opportunity to visit it again and again. Plásmata 3—an immersive nocturnal exhibition that transforms Athens’ Pedion tou Areos Park into a dreamlike landscape of light, projection, sound, and art. For 20 nights, the park becomes a playground of encounters where reality and illusion intertwine, inviting visitors to see public space anew.
The Park has always been our favourite place to walk, relax, drink a coffee all year round.
Lot of times our director walks with students in the Park, have a coffee at the Central Kiosk (called GARDENIA) and walk through the historical glyptotheque about the Greek Revolution.
On top of this we participate actively in an association that tries to improve the operation of the Park, our director had been the president, now acts as the vice president of the association “Epimenoume Pedio Areos”.
This is why we have been invited to participate in an open discussion about the past, the present and future of the Park that was organized during the Exhibition.
By the way “plamata” in Greek means “creatures” of any kind. The title “Plásmata” sets the tone: hybrid beings and strange totems appear as glowing, whispering, or hums hidden among trees, fountains, and paths. Here, technology dissolves into the everyday, and art emerges organically within its surroundings.
Our director who lives or works in the area since 60+ years has spoken about his memories and his dreams for the future and participated in the relative discussions in front of a big audience on 01/06/2025.
