UNIVERSITY «ALEXANDER IOAN CUZA» (ROMANIA)
The University «ALEXANDER IOAN CUZA» of Iasi was founded in 1860 and it is the first Romanian University that was organised according to the current social and economic situation. In 1918, after the completion of the integration procedure, the University developed very rapidly, trying to keep up with the European progress and with the particular needs of the Romanian society. Modern Greek is taught since 1973. In 1998, the University decided to establish the Lectorate of Modern Greek. The Lectorate is very active in the promotion of the Greek language and culture. It organizes lectures, conferences, cultural events for which it collaborates with various entities not only of Iasi, but also of Greece.
