Life at school Athens is about more than lessons and textbooks. From the very first day, students experience Greek life through shared moments, relaxed breaks, and real conversations outside the classroom.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, life at school Athens once again showed its warm and human side.
Valentine’s Day and Life at School Athens
In Greece, Valentine’s Day is simple and informal. People meet for coffee, share something sweet, and enjoy time together. This everyday approach is also part of life at school Athens.
A few days ago, we left the classroom with our half-Greek student Sophia and her two teachers. Together, we enjoyed a spontaneous hot chocolate break at a cozy spot (chocolaterie) near the school. The place serves every kind of chocolate imaginable and feels perfect for slow conversations.
At the same time, Sophia brought pastries from the first Scandinavian bakery in Greece, adding an international touch to everyday Greek life.
Exarchia and Life at School Athens
This small break took place in Exarchia Square, just steps from our school. Exarchia plays an important role in life at school Athens because it reflects real, modern Athens.
The neighborhood is known for its cultural energy. Art spaces, independent publishers, bookstores, cinemas, schools, and daily activity shape its identity. As a result, students experience Athens beyond tourist areas and stereotypes.
Learning Greek Beyond the Classroom
At our school, learning continues beyond scheduled lessons. Our program stays structured. However, daily life remains flexible and human.
Therefore, we often arrange coffee breaks, hot chocolate outings, or short walks with our students. These moments help students practice Greek naturally and feel more confident.
This is what life at school Athens truly means: learning Greek through everyday life, shared experiences, and real connections.
