At our Greek language school in Athens, every student becomes part of a larger international family. Last week, we organized a spontaneous and emotional Greek language school farewell party in Athens for three students who left a strong mark on our classrooms and daily life.
The celebration started at 13:30 after lessons and brought together students, teachers, music, Greek food, and unforgettable memories.
A Special Farewell for International Greek Students
This special gathering celebrated Sergio from Uruguay, Bernhard from Germany, and Eleni from Germany after completing their Greek language courses in Athens.
Sergio from Uruguay and His Creative School Hymn
Sergio spent eight weeks studying Greek at our school in Athens. During his stay, he became known for his humor, creativity, and enthusiasm for Greek culture.
One of the highlights of the Greek language school farewell party in Athens was the first listening of Sergio’s AI-generated school hymn. The room immediately filled with laughter, applause, and emotion as students and teachers listened together.
Bernhard Combined Greek Lessons with Bouzouki Lessons
Bernhard came from Germany and combined his Greek language lessons with bouzouki lessons during his stay in Athens. His passion for Greek music impressed everybody at the school.
During the celebration, we watched a video from his concert performance. It was a proud moment for all of us and showed how language learning and culture can work together beautifully.

Eleni and Her Strong Connection with Greece
Eleni joined our Greek language school from Germany, but Greece was already close to her heart. Her father is Greek, and her boyfriend is Greek as well.
Naturally, everyone joked that there was now “no escape from Greece” for her anymore. This became one of the funniest and warmest moments of the afternoon.
Greek Sweets, Savory Treats, and Coffee Together
No Greek language school farewell party in Athens would be complete without delicious food.
Our students brought wonderful fresh sweets including κορμός, πάστα ποντικάκι, μπαμπάς ρούμι, σουδάκια, πτι φουρ, and traditional biscuits that perfectly accompanied coffee.
We also added savory bakery favorites such as σπανακόπιτα and τυρόπιτα. Of course, wine was also part of the celebration and helped create a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
The table quickly became the center of conversation, storytelling, and laughter in Greek, English, German, and Spanish.
Certificates of Attendance and Emotional Moments
Mr. Kostas, the school director, opened the event with a short speech about friendship, communication, and the importance of cultural exchange while learning Greek.
The students also received their certificates of attendance during the celebration. These certificates marked the successful completion of their Greek language journey in Athens.
Moments like this remind us that studying Greek abroad is about much more than grammar and vocabulary. It is also about friendships, shared experiences, music, food, and memories that stay with us long after the lessons end.

Life at Our Greek Language School in Athens
At our school, we believe that learning Greek should include real human connection and authentic cultural experiences.
Whether students join Greek lessons, music activities, cultural events, or local excursions, they become part of everyday life in Athens.
We already miss Sergio, Bernhard, and Eleni very much, and we hope to welcome them back again soon.
Καλή αντάμωση — until we meet again.
