Today was a day of joy and celebration at Alexander Greek School as we surprised our beloved teacher Vasiliki on her birthday. Known affectionately by students and staff as the “Dancing Queen”, Vasiliki brings energy, kindness, and dedication into every lesson she teaches—whether it’s a one-on-one beginner class, a lively group of teenagers, or a visiting school from abroad.
The Heart of Our Greek Dance Lessons
In addition to her work as a language teacher, Vasiliki is the soul of our Friday Greek dance lessons, an event our students look forward to each week. With her guidance, students not only learn the Greek language but also connect with its vibrant traditions and culture through movement and rhythm.
A Birthday Surprise—Greek Style
While classes were underway, students and teachers surprised Vasiliki with a joyful classroom “intrusion” to sing the traditional birthday song “Να ζήσεις…” in true Greek fashion—loud, heartfelt, and full of warmth. It was a spontaneous moment of happiness that reflected the spirit of our school: supportive, joyful, and connected.
Sweet Treats and a Health-Conscious Cake
True to her character, Vasiliki brought sweets from her favorite local pastry shop to share with everyone. But for her own cake, she chose something simple and healthy—an apple pie with a single sweet candle. A perfect, thoughtful touch that reflects who she is: kind, balanced, and full of heart.
