Life at School: A Student from Uruguay Created an AI School Hymn for Our Athens School

A 10-Week Greek Language Journey from Uruguay to Athens

Life at school in Athens is always full of surprises, friendships, creativity, and unforgettable moments.

This year, we had the pleasure of welcoming an incredible student from Uruguay for a 10-week Greek language program at our school in Athens. From the very first days, he became a beloved part of our school community thanks to his positive energy, humor, and enthusiasm for Greek culture and everyday life in Greece.

But during his stay, he did something truly unique.

Using AI as a creative tool, he wrote a funny and surprisingly accurate “school hymn” inspired by his experience at our Greek school in Athens. The song quickly became a favorite among students and staff because it perfectly captures the atmosphere of daily life at the school.

Life at School in Athens Through a Funny AI Hymn

The lyrics humorously describe the rhythm of student life in Athens.

There are references to Greek lessons, grammar struggles, Greek food cravings, cultural activities, museums, and of course the unforgettable stories shared by Mr. Kostas, the director of our school.

At more than 80 years old, Mr. Kostas continues to inspire students every day with his passion for Greek history, storytelling, and culture. His presentations and historical talks are one of the most memorable parts of the school experience.

The song also lovingly mentions Irini, our contact manager, who organizes student programs, communicates with agencies and partners, and supports students throughout their stay in Athens.

Students especially laughed at the part describing Irini entering classrooms to announce the day’s activities while often bringing sweet or savory Greek snacks for everyone.

Anyone who has studied at our school immediately recognized these everyday moments.

Life at School in Athens Means Greek Language, Food, and Humor

What made this AI school hymn so special was not only the humor, but also how accurately it captured the spirit of our school.

Learning Greek in Athens is not only about grammar and vocabulary exercises. It is also about friendships, cultural immersion, food, storytelling, music, and shared experiences.

The lyrics move naturally between English, Greek, and Spanish, reflecting the international atmosphere inside our classrooms every month.

For all of us at the school, seeing students become so emotionally connected to the experience is one of the greatest rewards.

The Full AI School Hymn Lyrics

“This is Greece! Elláda!”

(Opa! Yasas!)

Verse 1 – English/Greek

9:30 on the clock, we’re crawling to the seat
Trying to wake up to the Mediterranean beat.
Here comes o kýrios Kostas (ο κύριος Κώστας) with a smile
He’s gonna talk about history for a long, long while.
Great speeches about heroes, battles, and the sea
While we are just wondering: “Where’s my frappé coffee?”
He’s a legend, a master, a storyteller king
But those ancient dates make our poor heads ring!

Pre-Chorus – English/Greek

But wait! The teachers are approaching the door
Irregular verbs? ¡Qué horror!
Tréchō, édrama, tha tréxō… (Τρέχω, έδραμα, θα τρέξω)
They torture us with grammar, it’s a crazy show.
My brain is kaput, please let us go!

Chorus – Multi-language

This is Greece! Elláda! (Ελλάδα)
Sun, beauty, and no more ensalada.
History, cinema, museums and art
But the food is the thing that wins our heart.
Ílios, omorfiá kai fagitó! (Ήλιος, ομορφιά και φαγητό)
Give me a gyro, ¡o me muero yo!

Verse 2 – English/Greek

The classroom door swings open, a miracle we see
Is it an angel? No, it’s Irini!
She’s walking in like a goddess from the screen
With the best snacks that we have ever seen.
Tirópita, bougátsa and some koulouri
Suddenly the grammar is no longer a fury.
From the cinema seat to the temple on the hill
If there is no food, we are standing still!

Bridge – Greek/English

Tróme pandoú (Τρώμε παντού – We eat everywhere)
We don’t really care!
Greek culture is golden, Greek culture is grand
But it’s much better with a snack in your hand.
¡Qué rico! ¡Opa!

Chorus – Multi-language

This is Greece! Elláda! (Ελλάδα)
Sun, beauty, and no more ensalada.
History, cinema, museums and art
But the food is the thing that wins our heart.
Ílios, omorfiá kai fagitó! (Ήλιος, ομορφιά και φαγητό)
Give me a gyro, ¡o me muero yo!

Outro – English/Greek

9:30 was the start, but the food is the end.
Best school in the world, efcharistó (ευχαριστώ) my friend!
More honey!
¡Más comida!
(Big finish with Bouzouki)
