Great news from Alexander Greek School Athens! We are now offering a new way to learn Greek in Athens: Tachymatheia – Greek Fast: Learn to Read and Write Greek in 5 Hours. This beginner-friendly experience combines Greek language, practical phrases and a little taste of Greek culture in the heart of Athens.
And we are especially happy because we have already welcomed our first Tachymatheia student!
Our first student came to us from Madagascar. She joined us for her five-hour Greek lesson, but, as we had hoped, the experience became much more than a language class.
Learning Greek and sharing cultures
During the break, her teacher showed her how to make traditional Greek coffee. They prepared the coffee together and enjoyed it with some traditional biscuits.
There was also plenty of time for conversation and cultural exchange. We talked about Madagascar and Greece, and our student showed us videos of a volcanic eruption that she had witnessed very close to her.
We shared stories about Greece, everyday life and our different cultures. She also had the chance to taste a traditional grape spoon sweet, made with grapes from her teacher’s village in the Peloponnese.
These are the moments we love at our school: learning a language while also meeting people, exchanging stories and discovering different cultures.
