For the fourth week in a row, the beloved Traditional Strata of the Municipality of Chania brings warmth, movement, and authenticity to the city’s iconic Venetian Port. This series of weekly cultural evenings transforms the old harbor into a living celebration of Cretan heritage, offering unforgettable moments for locals and visitors alike.
This evening, Tuesday, 8 July 2025, at 20:00, the Music and Dance Workshop “ZALOS” will present “Chaniatika Zala” — a journey through the rhythms and dances of Chania. The Strata begins at Neorio Moro, with a first stop at the Glass Mosque around 20:20, and a final stop at the Square of the Metropolitan Church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary (I.M.N. Eisodion tis Theotokou) at 21:00.
Expect an atmospheric evening filled with traditional music, vivid costumes, and spontaneous dancing as performers from local cultural associations guide us through a festive route in the heart of the city.
The Traditional Strata is more than just a performance — it is a celebration of living heritage. Every Tuesday throughout the summer, different groups from Chania and the wider region come together to highlight what makes this island’s identity so unique: its music, its dances, its stories, and its people.
Whether you’re a visitor discovering Chania for the first time or a local who cherishes these traditions, the Strata offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with the cultural richness of Crete — right by the sea, under the evening sky.
Come walk with tradition. Feel the pulse of Chania.
