Life at School: An Impromptu Summer Course

B1 Greek course students from Netherlands and Germany at Athens school

Life at our Athens Greek language school is full of unexpected joys. One such highlight this summer was an impromptu course created by three enthusiastic students. By chance, a Dutch student and two German students enrolled during a week without scheduled courses. As luck would have it, they were all on the same B1 level, and together they formed a dynamic learning group for the last week of summer.

A Pleasant Learning Team

From day one, this small group proved to be a delightful team. Their mix of backgrounds and personalities created a lively and collaborative environment. In class, they engaged actively, helped each other with vocabulary and grammar, and shared insights from their cultures. The energy in the classroom reminded us why teaching Greek is so rewarding — when students connect with each other, learning becomes effortless and fun.

Lunches and Social Moments

The camaraderie extended beyond lessons. After class, the three students organized group lunches, sometimes joined by our staff teacher Sotiris, creating moments of conversation, laughter, and cultural exchange. These lunches became a perfect opportunity to practice Greek in informal settings, try local dishes, and strengthen friendships.

A Sweet Goodbye to Summer

On the final day, Laura, one of our students, surprised everyone by bringing an apple pie from Venetis, our favorite local bakery. 🍎🥧 This sweet gesture allowed the group and our staff to celebrate the end of summer together and welcome autumn warmly. It was a heartwarming moment, a small but meaningful memory that reflects the spirit of life at school: shared learning, friendship, and joyful experiences.

The Spirit of Life at School

This impromptu B1 course showed us how sometimes the best experiences are unplanned. Three students from different countries came together by chance, learned Greek, shared meals, laughed with teachers, and created memories that will last long after their stay in Athens. These are the moments that truly capture the essence of life at school — where language learning, culture, and friendship meet.
