Out of Class Activities: A Magical Escape to Pasha’s Gardens and Coffee with a View

earning Greek is about much more than grammar and vocabulary. Our Greek cultural activities in Thessaloniki allow students to discover the city’s history, hidden treasures and everyday life while practising the language in authentic settings. One of our latest adventures took us to the enchanting Pasha’s Gardens (Kipi tou Pasa), followed by a relaxing coffee with one of the most spectacular views in Thessaloniki.

Greek Cultural Activities in Thessaloniki Begin at Pasha’s Gardens

Our group of adult learners visited Pasha’s Gardens, one of Thessaloniki’s most fascinating hidden gems, located just outside the eastern walls of Ano Poli (Upper Town).

Surrounded by lush greenery, the gardens offered the perfect setting for a peaceful walk while discovering a lesser-known side of the city.

Students admired the remarkable stone structures, built in 1904, which remain the only example of fantastic, Gaudí-inspired architecture in Thessaloniki. Curved pathways, decorative galleries and unusual stone formations create an almost fairy-tale atmosphere that surprises every visitor.

As we explored the gardens, we also shared the fascinating stories and urban legends connected with this mysterious place, giving students another opportunity to expand their Greek vocabulary through history and local traditions.

Greek Cultural Activities in Thessaloniki Continue Over Coffee

After our walk, we continued our outing with one of Greece’s favourite traditions—sharing a coffee together.

At a nearby café overlooking the city, our students enjoyed breathtaking panoramic views of Thessaloniki and the Thermaic Gulf while relaxing in the warm summer sunshine.

The peaceful atmosphere encouraged everyone to chat, exchange impressions and continue practising Greek naturally. Conversations flowed easily as students described the places they had visited, shared new vocabulary and reflected on everything they had learned during the excursion.

Learning Greek Beyond the Classroom

Our out-of-class activities are designed to help students use Greek in real-life situations.

Whether asking questions, sharing opinions or simply chatting over coffee, every conversation becomes valuable language practice. These authentic experiences help students build confidence while creating friendships and unforgettable memories.

More importantly, they discover that learning Greek is closely connected with understanding Greek culture, history and everyday life.

Creating Memories Together

Our visit to Pasha’s Gardens reminded us that some of the most memorable learning experiences happen outside the classroom.

Between the magical atmosphere of the gardens, the fascinating local legends and the spectacular city views, our students experienced another side of Thessaloniki that many visitors never discover.

We look forward to many more out-of-class activities that combine language learning, cultural exploration and the joy of sharing unforgettable moments together.
