At our school, we are fortunate to have direct access to one of the most prestigious athletic clubs in Greece, the Panhellenic Athletic Club, located just across from our campus. This gives our students a fantastic opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and activities.
Swimming
The Panhellenic Athletic Club offers swimming opportunities for students, with early-morning access to the pool, allowing them to swim before their lessons begin. A single hour of swimming costs €7, while a monthly membership is available for the discounted rate of €70. A one-time registration fee of €20 is required. Additionally, the club requires a cardio and dermatological check, which can be done in partnership with a nearby hospital at minimal or no cost.
Beyond swimming, the Panhellenic Athletic Club boasts a range of athletic activities that have been running for decades, offering students a unique opportunity to engage in sports that promote physical fitness and mental agility. Here are some of the key sports offered:
Chess
The chess division is one of the most historic sections of the Panhellenic Club, running for over 60 years and offering both recreational and competitive opportunities.
Athletics (Track and Field)
Athletics is one of the club’s most popular departments, functioning since its foundation. The club has a long-standing tradition of fostering top-level athletes.
Men’s Basketball
Panhellenic is among the pioneers in Greek basketball, with the men’s team securing five consecutive championships during its peak.
Men’s Volleyball
The men’s volleyball team participates in both the regional championship (Amateur Division B) and the national cup, contributing significantly to the club’s sports portfolio.
Judo
The judo department has achieved numerous national championships, contributing to the club’s rich history of success in both men’s and women’s competitions.
Karate
With daily training sessions, the karate department hosts a large number of boys and girls. Though primarily a demonstration sport, it’s ideal for young athletes interested in martial arts.
Women’s Volleyball
The women’s volleyball team is one of the most popular departments, participating actively in regional and national tournaments, enhancing the club’s legacy.
Fencing
Fencing is one of the most prestigious departments at the Panhellenic Athletic Club, consistently winning the Greek national championship for 20 consecutive years (1995-2015).
Gymnastics
The gymnastics division includes rhythmic, artistic, and acrobatic gymnastics, along with dance. It’s a favorite among children, combining fitness with fun, helping develop physical coordination and agility.
Boxing
Boxing is another historic sport within the club, having produced several Greek champions over the years.
Weightlifting
With a storied history, the weightlifting department has produced both national champions and Olympians, representing Greece on the world stage.
Archery
The archery department offers both indoor and outdoor training, making it a newer but rapidly growing sport within the club.
Modern Pentathlon
The Panhellenic Athletic Club is a consistent national champion in modern pentathlon, a demanding Olympic sport combining five disciplines.
Handball
The handball department adds to the club’s diverse athletic offerings, engaging athletes in a team-oriented sport that demands both strategy and physical endurance.
