Our President participated in the conference, which was organized by the Organization for the Promotion of The Greek language (ΟΔΕΓ) on 9.01 at 18.00. The topic of his speech was “The teaching of Ancient Greek in European countries and the relevant educational aids”.
Mr Karkanias referred to the teaching of Ancient Greek in European Classical high schools and presented a unique series of books that are used in 18 countries.
Our school has experience on this topic, as it has cooperated with classical high schools from Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Belgium and Austria in the frame of the Program “A Passage from Ancient to Modern Greek”, which was funded by the European Program “Socrates”. The program’s aim was to develop educational material for teaching Modern Greek to students that had already been taught Ancient Greek.
